Vials are suitable basically to inject samples from an autosampler. They are available in various sizes, although 2 mL vials are more commonly used. Autosampler needle pierces through the cap during injection and withdraws the required aliquots of sample from the vials. Screw top vials [volume 2 mL, clear glass vial] are used on many autosamplers with a standard opening of 4.6 mm. The threads on the standard vials are 8-425. The polypropylene cap is autoclavable and it can withstand the temperature up to 135° C. The red PTFE/silicone septum is sized to fit screw top vials. It is suitable for use with most organics (until pierced) and is not recommended for use with chlorosilanes.
