General description

Crystal structure of lithium perchlorate trihydrate (LiClO4.3H2O) has been investigated by X-ray and neutron diffraction studies. It exhibits pyroelectric properties.

Application

Lithium perchlorate trihydrate may be used to modify the membrane morphology of poly[(vinylidene fluoride)-co-trifluoroethylene] membranes, by doping it with varying concentrations of LiClO4.3H2O. It may be used to compose the polymer nanocomposite electrolyte (PNCE) films.
When used as a co-catalyst, accelerates the Baylis-Hillman reaction, the coupling of α,β-unsaturated carbonyls with aldehydes.
