Application

In living mice, acriflavine hydrochloride has been used in the confocal laser endomicroscopy to check the crypt structure in mucosa. It has also been used in Neurospora strain selection by checking the acriflavine resistance.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Acriflavine hydrochloride is a fluorescent dye. It is used as a topical contrast agent. It mainly stains nuclei and is applied to tissues before microscopy.

Other Notes

A mixture of 3,6-diamino-10-methylacridinium (acriflavin) and 3,6-diaminoacridine (proflavin)

Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 can sufficiently control the progress of neurological symptoms after ischemic stroke owing to their actions associated with its downstream genes. In this study, we evaluated the role of HIF-1α in attenuating brain damage after endothelin-1 injection. Focal

Limb remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) has been proven to alleviate stroke injury in young rats, but its protective effect and its mechanism in aged rats are still unclear. Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) is one of the important markers of stroke, and

Limb remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) protects against brain injury induced by stroke, but the underlying protective mechanisms remain unknown. As hypoxia inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) is neuroprotective in stroke and mediates neuroinflammation, we tested the hypothesis that HIF-1α is a
