General description

Universal Pre-enrichment Broth (UPB) is used for recovering sublethally injured Salmonella and Listeria from food products. UPB lacks inhibitory agents to provide selectivity for target pathogens and may not be adapted for samples with high levels of background microflora.

Application

Universal Pre-enrichment Broth (UPB) has been used in the enrichment of Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella species. It has also been used in the growth kinetic studies of Salmonella typhimurium.

Preparation Note

Suspend 38.05 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat if necessary, to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes. Mix well and dispense as desired.

Footnote

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
