General description

Fluorobenzene is a colorless liquid, which can find applications as a reagent for resin or plastic polymers and also as an insecticide.[1] It also plays the role of a capping agent in the synthesis of a non-fullerene electron acceptor like SF(DPPFB)4 comprising of a spirobifluorene core and four diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) arms that can find applications in designing organic solar cells.[2]

Application

Fluorobenzene may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in cell suspensions of Rhizobiales strain F11, and water samples by liquid chromatography (LC) based techniques.[3][4] It may also be used as an internal standard for the determination of volatile aromatic compounds in gasoline by comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC x GC).[5]

The aerobic metabolism of fluorobenzene by Rhizobiales sp. strain F11 was investigated. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed that 4-fluorocatechol and catechol were formed as intermediates during fluorobenzene degradation by cell suspensions. Both these compounds, unlike 3-fluorocatechol, supported growth and oxygen
