General description

Aspartate aminotransferase, mitochondrial ((mAspAT), also known as Fatty acid-binding protein (FABP-1) or Glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase 2 or Kynurenine aminotransferase 4 or Kynurenine aminotransferase IV or Kynurenine--oxoglutarate transaminase 4 or Kynurenine--oxoglutarate transaminase IV or Plasma membrane-associated fatty acid-binding protein (FABPpm) or Transaminase A, and encoded by the gene name GOT2, plays an essential role in role in amino acid metabolism and facilitates cellular uptake of long-chain free fatty acids. GOT2 is localized to the mitochondrion; however, exposure to alcohol promotes translocation to the cell membrane.

Immunogen

Purified recombinant fragment of human GOT2 expressed in E. Coli

Application

Anti-GOT2, clone 3E9 Antibody is an antibody against GOT2 for use in western blotting & immunofluorescence.
Immunofluorescence Analysis: A 1:200-1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected GOT2 in PC-3 and SK-BR-3 cells.
Research Category
Signaling
Research Sub Category
Metabolic Hormones & Receptors

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in HEK293, PC-12, BCBL-1, HepG2 and NIH/3T3 cell lysates.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:500-2,000 dilution of this antibody detected GOT2 in HEK293, PC-12, BCBL-1, HepG2 and NIH/3T3 cell lysates.

Target description

~47 kDa observed. Uncharacterized bands may be observed in some lysate(s).

Physical form

Mouse monoclonal IgG1 ascitic fluid containing up to 0.1% sodium azide.
Unpurified

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.

The preservation of mitochondrial function is a major protective strategy for cerebral ischemic injuries. Previously, our laboratory demonstrated that protein kinase C epsilon (PKCε) promotes the synthesis of mitochondrial nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+).
