Gene Information

General description

S-phase kinase-associated protein 1 (UniProt P63208; also known as Cyclin-A/CDK2-associated protein p19, OCP-2, OCP-II, Organ of Corti protein 2, Organ of Corti protein II, p19A, p19skp1, RNA polymerase II elongation factor-like protein, SIII, Transcription elongation factor B polypeptide 1-like) is encoded by the SKP1 (also known as EMC19, OCP2, SKP1A, TCEB1L) gene (Gene ID 6500) in human. Polyubiquitination of proteins is mediated by ubiquitin-activating enzymes (E1s), ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s), and ubiquitin ligases (E3s). There exist RING finger-type, HECT-type, and U-box type of E3 ligases. Skp1 is one of the three core components of the SCF complex (Skp1, Cullin, F-box) and functions as an adapter that bridges the F-box protein and Cullin (CUL1). SCF complex depends on various F-box proteins for specific recognition and recruitment of substrates. SCF ligase plays an important role in regulating the transitions between G1/S and G2/M phases.

Specificity

Expected to react with both spliced isoforms of human SKP1 reported by UniProt (P63208).

Immunogen

Epitope: Internal.
GST-tagged recombinant human SKP1 internal fragment.
