Gene Information

General description

The protein named U6 snRNA-associated Sm-like protein LSm1 or Cancer associated Sm-like, or Small nuclear ribonuclear CaSm and encoded by the human gene LSM1/CASM is a critical binding protein that mediates replication dependent histone mRNA degradation during cell division. Lsm1 is part of the Lsm family of proteins. Lsm proteins are a ubiquitous family of proteins characterized by the Sm-domain. They exist as hexa- or heptameric RNA-binding complexes and carry out RNA-related functions. Lsm1 interacts directly with SLBP a histone stem-loop binding protein critical for histone mRNA processing and expression. Histone mRNAs do not contain introns or polyadenylation signals and are processed by direct endonucleolytic cleavage. Lsm1 binds directly to the 3’-terminal U-tract of U6 snRNA . Lsm1 is localized to the nucleus and is up regulated in many cancers including pancreatic cancer and many tumor cell lines.

Immunogen

Recombinant protein corresponding to mouse LSm1.

Journal of virology, 92(24) (2018-09-28)
Rotavirus replicates in unique virus-induced cytoplasmic inclusion bodies called viroplasms (VMs), the composition and structure of which have yet to be understood. Based on the analysis of a few proteins, earlier studies reported that rotavirus infection inhibits stress granule (SG)
