Gene Information

human ... CARM1(10498)

General description

CARM1 (coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1) is an arginine N-methyltransferase that catalyzes the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to arginine residues. This protein-arginine methyltransferase that works in conjunction with p300 and GRIP1 to enhance transcription. CARM1 methylation targets include histone H3 at Arg17 and p300 at Arg2142. CARM1 is recruited to promoters upon gene activation together with histone acetyltransferases from the p300 and p160 families. During monocyte inflammatory stimulation, CARM1 acts together with p300 as a coactivator for NF-kB. It is responsible for moving cells toward the inner cell mass in developing blastocysts. CARM1 also plays an important role in androgen receptors and may play a role in prostate cancer progression.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes CARM1 phosphorylated at Ser228.

Immunogen

Epitope: Phosphorylated Ser228
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human CARM1 phosphorylated at Ser228.

Application

Anti-phospho CARM1 (Ser228) Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody for detection of phospho CARM1 (Ser228) also known as Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 4 & has been validated in WB.
