Application

Anti-MARCKS Antibody, Complete sequence is an antibody against MARCKS for use in WB.
Immunoblotting: 1:1,000 using rat brain extract (colormetric; higher dilutions may be used with ECL). The antibody reacts with the 70-85 kDa (depending on species) MARCKS protein. The suggested dilution buffer is TBS containing 0.05% Tween-20. Suggested blocking buffer is 5% non-fat dry milk. Suggested transfer membrane is PVDF-Immobilon. Suggested gel percentage is 8%. Overnight incubation with the antibody is recommended.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Physical form

Format: Purified
Semi-purified immunoglobulin. Liquid in 120 mM NaCl, 25 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.3 containing 0.01% sodium azide.

Analysis Note

Control
POSITIVE CONTROL: Neonatal rat brain extract. MARCKS is heat and acid resistant. Heat or acid-treated supernatants from crude tissue or cell homogenates are good sources to analyze MARCKS content by immunoblot.

Restenosis limits the durability of all cardiovascular reconstructions. Vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation drives this process, but an intact, functional endothelium is necessary for vessel patency. Current strategies to prevent restenosis employ antiproliferative agents that affect both VSMCs and

Overexpression of the myristolated alanine-rich C kinase substrate (MARCKS) occurs in vascular proliferative diseases such as restenosis after bypass surgery. MARCKS knockdown results in arrest of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation with little effect on endothelial cell (EC) proliferation.

Transcription of the myristoylated alanine-rich C kinase substrate (MARCKS) is upregulated in animal models of intimal hyperplasia. MARCKS knockdown inhibits vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) migration in vitro; however, the mechanism is as yet unknown. We sought to elucidate the
