General description

Abl interactor 1 (Abelson interactor 1) is a member of the family of Abl-interactors and is highly expressed in the brain. Abl interactor 1 is involved in the signaling of ABL1 and ABL2 nonreceptor tyrosine kinases, and the EGF-receptor. The Abl interactor 1 protein contains SH3 domains, and may function as an adaptor protein; It forms a trimeric complex with EPS8 and SOS1 in the transduction of signals from Ras to Rac. Previous studies have suggested that Abl interactor 1 via the Ras and Rac pathways may regulate cell proliferation, cell adhesion, and actin remodeling. Abl interactor 1 is also investigated for its role in tumor suppression.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes Abi-1 phosphorylated at Ser225.

Immunogen

Epitope: Phosphorylated Ser225
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human Abi-1 phosphorylated at Ser225.

Application

Cytoskeletal Signaling
This phospho-Abi-1 antibody is validated for use in WB for the detection of the phospho-Abi-1 protein.
Western Blot Analysis: A representative lot was used by an independent laboratory in human mammary cells treated with EGF and Abi-1-transfected 293T cells (Mendoza, M., et al. (2011). Molecular Cell 41:661–671).

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in EGF-treated COS cells untreated and treated with lambda phosphatase.

Western Blot Analysis: 1 µg/mL of this antibody detected Abi-1 in 10 µg of EGF-treated COS cells untreated and treated with lambda phosphatase.
