General description

4-Fluoro-isobutyryl fentanyl, also known as 4-FIBF and p-FIBF, is a fentanyl analog and sold on the illicit market as designer drug. This certified Snap-N-Spike® solution is suitable for use as starting material in calibrators and controls for 4-Fluoro-isobutyryl fentanyl LC/MS or GC/MS testing methods in clinical toxicology, urine drug testing, or forensic analysis applications. This certified solution standard is DEA-exempt, allowing laboratories to place orders without additional regulatory paperwork. For US customers, state specific regulatory requirements may apply.

Application

  • Real-time forensic surveillance: The study conducted by King County Medical Examiner′s Office implemented in-house drug evidence testing for rapid surveillance of fatal overdoses, a method pertinent to evaluating 4-Fluoro-isobutyryl fentanyl in forensic settings, enhancing opioid detection protocols (Harruff et al., 2024).

  • Cytochrome P450 enzyme expression analysis: Research on mRNA expression levels of CYP1A2, CYP3A4, and CYP3A5 provides a foundational approach to understanding individual metabolic variations which could influence the biochemical research and pharmacokinetic studies of synthetic opioid analogs such as 4-Fluoro-isobutyryl fentanyl (Makihara et al., 2024).

  • Pain management in clinical settings: A case report on the use of continuous intravenous fentanyl for treating oral mucosal pain in Stevens-Johnson Syndrome illustrates the clinical implications of potent fentanyl derivatives and supports research into similar compounds like 4-Fluoro-isobutyryl fentanyl for therapeutic uses (Ito et al., 2024).

  • Dependency reversal in pharmacological research: A study on the efficacy of lipophilic analogues of D-cysteine to prevent and reverse physical dependence to fentanyl in rats underscores the importance of ongoing research into opioid receptor agonists and the potential impact of analogues like 4-Fluoro-isobutyryl fentanyl on addiction treatment strategies (Bates et al., 2023).

  • Advanced detection techniques: Development of carbon nanofiber-modified electrodes for the electrochemical determination of fentanyl showcases technological advancements that could be adapted for enhanced detection and analysis of fentanyl analogues, including 4-Fluoro-isobutyryl fentanyl, in various biological matrices (Marenco et al., 2024).
