General description

Sodium selenide is a useful selenylation reagent in organic synthesis. It can add a seleno group to a variety of organic substrates, such as alkenes, alkynes, and carbonyls. It is also used to synthesize organoselenium compounds, which are useful in various organic reactions.

Application

Sodium selenide can be used as a nucleophilic reagent in the reaction of ethynyl and bromoethynyl ketones to afford divinyl selenides and 1,3-enynes with high stereo- and regioselectivity. It is also used as a precursor and a stabilizing agent in the one-pot synthesis of cobalt selenide nanoparticles.
