General description

1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethyl sulfate is a water-miscible, aprotic[1] room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL).[2] It can be prepared by reacting 1-methylimidazole with diethyl sulfate.[2]

Application

[EMIM][ESO4] has been used to study its effect:
  • As a solvent on the thermal stability of lysozyme.[1]
  • As an additive on potassium hydroxide (KOH) electrolyte properties and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) reaction kinetics.[2]
