General description

4-Methyl-2-phenylimidazole is a 4-substituted-2-phenylimidazole.[1] It participates in ring-opening of various bicyclic olefins to afford trans-3,4-disubstituted derivatives.[2] The FT-IR, FT-Raman and FT-NMR spectra of 4-methyl-2-phenylimidazole has been recorded.[3]

Application

4-Methyl-2-phenylimidazole is suitable for use to investgate the cytotoxic activity of 4-trifluoromethylimidazoles against human tumor and normal cells.[2] It may be used in following studies:
  • Curing of epoxy system consisting of a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-F epoxy resin, 1,4-butanediol.[1]
  • Curing of bisphenol-F epoxy resin.[4]
  • Synthesis of aza-heterocyclic compounds.[5]
  • Preparation of 1-[(2-chlorophenyl)(diphenyl)methyl]-4-methyl-2-phenyl-1H-imidazole.[6]
