Mouse / Human hybrid, SV-40 transformed

Cell Line Description

The cell line CL21 has been established by hybridisation of C57 BL mouse peritoneal macrophages with SV40 transformed human skin fibroblasts. The human cells were derived from a patient with Lesch-Nyhan syndrome and are deficient in hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT). They have been reported to contain the human chromosome 7 and could also contain subchromosomal fragments of chromosome 17.

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO₂; 37°C.
