Gene Information

human ... CYP4B1(1580)

General description

CYP4B1 (cytochrome P450, family 4, subfamily B, polypeptide 1) is a member of extra-hepatic CYP450 family highly expressed in the lung. More specifically it is observed in the ciliated sub-mucosal gland ducts as well as in the surface epithelium.

Immunogen

Cytochrome P450 4B1 recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

Application

Anti-CYP4B1 antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. The antibodies are also tested using immunofluorescence and western blotting. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit sigma.com/prestige.

Biochem/physiol Actions

CYP4B1 (cytochrome P450, family 4, subfamily B, polypeptide 1) plays an important role in wound healing and inflammation in the ocular surface by increasing the production of the inflammatory 12-hydroxyeicosanoids in the corneal epithelium. It has high impact on the activation of environmental chemicals associated with breast cancer genesis. Various xenobiotics such as 2-aminofluorene, 2-naphthylamine and benzidine are metabolised by CYP4B1.

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

Environmental chemicals are one of the risk factors in breast cancer genesis. Cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes play a major role in the activation of these chemicals. Using highly specific and sensitive reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis. the expression profile

Cytochrome P450 4B1 (CYP4B1) is involved in the metabolism of several xenobiotics, such as 2-aminofluorene, 2-naphthylamine and benzidine. CYP4B1 allelic variants CYP4B1*1-*7 were recently identified. We thus hypothesized that CYP4B1 genotypes may modify bladder cancer risk. We examined the CYP4B1

Human conducting airways contain two anatomically distinct epithelial cell compartments: surface epithelium and submucosal glands (SMG). Surface epithelial cells interface directly with the environment and function in pathogen detection, fluid and electrolyte transport, and mucus elevation. SMG secrete antimicrobial molecules

Injury to the ocular surface provokes an inflammatory response that is mediated, at least in part, by corneal epithelial derived 12-hydroxyeicosanoids (HETEs) including 12-HETE and 12-HETrE; both metabolites exhibit potent inflammatory and angiogenic properties and are formed by a cytochrome
