Benzocaine is a topical anesthetic. It functions as an appetite suppressant and smoke inhibitor. Benzocaine is used to treat pruritus, burns and cold. It is associated with allergic contact dermatitis.

Application

Benzocaine has been used as an anesthetic in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow analysis. It also has been used as an anesthetic in fishes.
