General description

Polypyrrole (PPy) is a conductive and highly stable polymer, doped with proprietary organic acids. It may be prepared by standard electrochemical technique.[1] PPy may also be prepared by reacting β-napthalene sulfonic acid (NSA) and ammonium peroxo-disulphate in aqueous medium.[2] The charges on the surfaces can be easily modified by doping the polymer during its synthesis.[1]Solubility and conductivity measurements of PPy doped with camphor sulfonic and dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid has been reported.[3]
Polypyrrole(PPy) is a π-conjugated conductive polymer that can be electrochemically synthesized and deposited on a variety of surfaces. The deposited PPy can be used in a wide range of sensor based applications due to the following properties[4]:
  • Ion exchange capacity.
  • Electrochromic effects.
  • Redox activity.
  • Corrosion resistant.
  • Catalytic activity.

Application

Conducting polymers may be used in electronics, chemical sensors.[5]
PPy can be used in the development of devices including:
  • conductive sensors for quality monitoring[6]
  • blended with nanotubes for supercapacitors[7]
  • nanowire actuators[8]
  • biosensors for drug delivery[9]
  • CO2 absorption materials[7]

  1. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  2. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature.   3. Specification sheet for CAS 30604-81-0 lists film conductivity. There is no info regarding processing parameter (anneal temp, time) or film characteristics (thickness, roughness). Please provide more info on how film conductivity measurements were done.
