Application

L′emina è usata per le seguenti applicazioni:

Biochem/physiol Actions

L′emina, versione ossidata dell′eme, è un gruppo prostetico che contiene ferro per un gruppo di proteine diverse. L′eme libero, che può essere rilasciato dall′emoglobina in caso di emolisi, è un proinfiammatorio e contribuisce alle specie reattive dell′ossigeno derivate dal ferro. I livelli di eme libero possono essere sovraregolati in diverse condizioni patologiche e possono avere un ruolo in varie condizioni infiammatorie inclusi i disturbi vascolari, l′insufficienza renale e i disturbi immunomediati.

L′emina può essere usata per studiare l′espressione e la repressione dell′eme ossigenasi 1 (HO-1) oltre che la sua attività. L′ematina è il “fattore X" necessario per la proliferazione dell′Haemophilus influenzae.

  1. Can 51280 be used to induce the erythroid differentiation of the K562 cells? If yes, what would it need to be dissolved in to add be added to cell culture?

    1. This product is not tested for any specific application. However, the material has been used successfully by other researchers to induce erythroid differentiation and hemoglobinization of K562 cells. Please see the link below to review one such publication:

      For culture use, this compound is typically prepared in DMSO at a concentration of 1 mM. The material is also soluble in 1.4 M ammonium hydroxide at 24 mg/mL at ambient temperature or 50 mg/ml when heated to 95°C for 5 minutes. Additionally, stock solutions of 0.25% hemin in 50% triethanolamine have been reported. Published methods suggest rates of 40 - 60 µM hemin for a treatment period of 1-5 days. Filter-sterilized stock solutions may be stored refrigerated, protected from light.

If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life.     1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. CAS number 16009-13-5, which corresponds to product 51280, is soluble in 1.4 M NaOH at a concentration of 25 mg/mL, and it is practically insoluble in water.

    1. This product has not been tested for use in cell culture. However, a previously deleted product, H1652, has been tested. The H1652 was dissolved at 10 mg/mL in 1 M NaOH and added then added to the culture medium at 7 mg/L. This information would need to be validated for product 51280.
