Anti-HDL antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 is an NADPH-dependent enzyme highly expressed in metabolic tissues that include liver, adipose tissue and the central nervous system. It may contribute to the loss of muscle strength with age and is a key component of sarcopenia. Inhibition of HDL gene may have some therapeutic potential in sarcopenia. HDL gene variation may affect the physiological cortisol levels and the severity of age-related osteoporosis. It is involved in regenerating active glucocorticoids, that are selectively elevated in adipose tissue in human obesity and metabolic syndrome, both associated with chronic low-grade inflammation. HDL acts as an oxidoreductase to yield active glucocorticoids, cortisol or corticosterone. It is expressed in normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEKs) and negatively regulates proliferation of NHEKs.

Sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass and function with age, is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Current understanding of the underlying mechanisms is limited. Glucocorticoids (GC) in excess cause muscle weakness and atrophy. We hypothesized that GC may contribute

Glucocorticoid hormones have been reported to contribute to the regulation of cellular proliferation and differentiation and to inhibit the growth of cells in several colon tumors and adenocarcinoma cell lines. As a regulator of glucocorticoid levels, type I isoform HSD11B1

Levels of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1), which regenerates active glucocorticoids, are selectively elevated in adipose tissue in human obesity and metabolic syndrome, both conditions associated with chronic low-grade inflammation. 11β-HSD1 expression is induced by proinflammatory cytokines in a variety

Higher physiological cortisol levels may increase the risk of age-related osteoporosis. We hypothesized that common polymorphisms in the cortisol synthesis enzyme 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (HSD11B) may cause interindividual variations in cortisol levels and age-related bone loss. We performed a retrospective study

The endogenous glucocorticoid, cortisol, is released from the adrenal gland in response to various stress stimuli. Extra-adrenal cortisol production has recently been reported to occur in various tissues. Skin is known to synthesize cortisol through a de novo pathway and
