General description

Native protein C from human plasma. Sold as a zymogen. Markedly prolongs kaolin-cephalin clotting time of normal plasma. Activated by α-thrombin to serine protease-activated protein C. In its active form, it is a potent anticoagulant that acts through selective inactivation of Factors Va and VIIIa.

Preparation Note

Prepared from plasma that has been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.

Following initial thaw, aliquot and freeze (-70°C).
