Gene Information

mouse ... Cry1(12952)

General description

Cry1 (cryptochrome circadian regulator 1) belongs to the cryptochrome family. It is located on human chromosome 12q23.

Immunogen

Peptide sequence around aa. 551-555 (S-Q-G-S-G), according to the protein Cry1.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cry1 (cryptochrome circadian regulator 1) controls gluconeogenesis. It induces tumor development and multiplication. Overexpression of Cry1 results in tumor progression and poor clinical indications in individuals with colorectal Cancer.

Features and Benefits

Target description

Blue light-dependent regulator of the circadian feedback loop. Inhibits CLOCK|NPAS2-ARNTL E box-mediated transcription. Acts, in conjunction with CRY2, in maintaining period length and circadian rhythmicity. Has no photolyase activity. Capable of translocating circadian clock core proteins such as PER proteins to the nucleus. May inhibit CLOCK|NPAS2-ARNTL transcriptional activity through stabilizing the unphosphorylated form of ARNTL.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate-buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol
