Gene Information

human ... CNTN1(1272)

General description

Contactin-1 (CNTN1) is a neural cell adhesion molecule which is part of the immunoglobulin gene family. It is highly expressed in gastric cancers and the gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 12q11–q12.

Specificity

Deteects ~120 kDa.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide amino acids 21-37 (D/EFTWHRRYGHGVSEEDKC) extracellular domain of rat contactin, Accession Number A57112.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Contactin-1 (CNTN1) functions in the development of the nervous system and aids in tumor growth. It takes part in different biochemical pathways and interacts with many proteins like receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase-β (RPTP-β). In the nervous system, it also regulates interactions between proteins on the cell surface .

Contactin-1 (CNTN-1) has been shown to promote cancer metastasis. Previously, we have reported that the expression of CNTN-1 was upregulated in gastric cancer tissues compared with adjacent normal tissues. Here, we investigated the significance of CNTN-1 expression and its underlying
