Gene Information
human ... HIPK4(147746)
General description
HIPK4 (homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 4) is present in the lungs and white adipose tissues. The protein mainly localizes in the cytoplasm. However, a weak signal is also present in the nucleus.
Biochem/physiol Actions
HIPK4 (homeodomain-interacting protein kinase 4) is serine/threonine kinase protein. HIPK4-mediated phosphorylation of p53 is crucial for p53-associated transcriptional repression.
Physical form
Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.25 mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

HIPK2 is a member of a novel family of nuclear serine-threonine kinases identified through their ability to interact with the Nkx-1.2 homeoprotein. The physiological role of these kinases is largely unknown, but we have recently reported on the involvement of

We describe here the cloning and characterization of a novel mouse homeodomain-interacting protein kinase (HIPK)-like gene, Hipk4. Hipk4 is expressed in lung and in white adipose tissue and encodes a 616 amino acid protein that includes a serine/threonine kinase domain.
