Application

For enzymatic determination of L-glutamine and L-glutamate via reduction of NAD to NADH, measured spectrophotometrically at 339 nm.
The detection ranges for this kit are: 0.056 - 0.56 mM L-glutamate; 0.14 - 1.4 mM L-glutamine.
Glutamine and Glutamate Determination Kit has been used to determine the concentration of L-glutamine:
  • in minimum essential medium (MEM) medium[1]
  • in the supernatant[2]
  • in plasma[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

The Glutamine/Glutamate Determination Kit is designed for the spectrophotometric measurement of L-glutamine and/or L-glutamate via enzymatic deamination of L-glutamine and dehydrogenation of L-glutamate with conversion of NAD+ to NADH. This kit may be used for the spectrophotometric measurement of L-glutamine and/or L-glutamate in liquid preparations.

Glutamine metabolism plays an important role in cancer development and progression. Glutaminase C (GAC), the first enzyme in glutaminolysis, has emerged as an important target for cancer therapy and many studies have focused on the mechanism of enhanced GAC expression

The trehalose (Tre) pathway has strong effects on growth and development in plants through regulation of carbon metabolism. Altering either Tre or trehalose 6-phosphate (T6P) can improve growth and productivity of plants as observed under different water availability. As yet

Glycolysis and glutaminolysis are heavily involved in the metabolic reprogramming of cancer cells. The activation of oncogenes and inactivation of tumor suppressor genes has a marked effect on the cellular metabolic processes glycolysis and glutaminolysis. N-Myc downstream-regulated gene 2 (NDRG2)
