The exact formulation is proprietary, but the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) states that the product contains between 30 to 50% ethanol. HistoChoice Tissue Fixative (H2904) has been discontinued without a replacement. The HistoChoice Clearing Agent (H2997) is not a suitable substitute for product H2904. While there are other fixatives for cells and tissue, none are specifically marketed for antibody probing applications and in situ hybridizations. Ethanol- or glyoxal-based fixatives are possible alternatives. Another potential replacement is Formalin Free Tissue Fixative, available under catalog number A5472 in 1-liter containers.
