General description

4-tert-Octylphenol belongs to the alkylphenol family of endocrine disrupting phenolic compounds. It is used primarily in household and industrial processes.[1][2]

Application

4-tert-Octylphenol may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in:
  • Aqueous samples[1][2] using simultaneous derivatization and dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME)[1] or solid-phase extraction (SPE)[2] followed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
  • Surface water samples by SPE and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).[3]
