General description

Trifluoroaceticacid (TFA) is used as an additive in HPLC and LC-MS analyses to improve theseparation of basic compounds.[1]

Application

Trifluoroacetic acid can be used as:
  • Ion-pairing reagent in reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) for peptide separation.[1]
  • An acidic additive in the mobile phase for chiral supercritical fluid chromatography.[2]
