The dry dye Oil red O (C.I. 26125) for microscopy Certistain®, is used for the preparation of a staining solution that can be used for the detection of lipids in histological cryo sections. As a Certistain® dye it is chemically quality-certified according to highest standards and strict specifications. Oil red O staining is used for the detection of neutral fat or polyethylene granula in e. g. histological tissues, in joint pathology or in cytological sample material. This Oil red O solution is ready-to-use and results in a brilliant, bright red staining of lipids, while the nuclei are counterstained blue with Hematoxylin solution acc. to Gill II (Cat. no. 105175). The staining of lipids in histology specimens is a physical process. Oil red O is a lipophilic dye; due to its solubility characteristics it diffuses to the tissue lipids. It is registered as IVD and certified as CE product. For more details, please see instructions for use (IFU). The IFU can be downloaded from this webpage.
