Description

General description

Calretinin is a Ca²⁺-binding protein. It belongs to the EF-hand family. This gene is upregulated in reactive mesothelial cells and in malignant mesothelioma.[1]
Recombinant mouse Calretinin protein is expressed from Escherichia coli and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Calretinin is widely distributed in the brain and might be responsible for neural protection. It regulates calcium signaling in neurons. Absence of calretinin in mice negatively affects long-term potentiation, motor coordination and Purkinje cell activity.[2][3]

Physical form

50 ml (100 μg/ml) in 50 mM Tris-Acetate, pH 7.5, 1 mM EDTA, 20% Glycerol.
