The esters between nicotinic acid and pentaerythritol (niceritrol, Perycit) or meso-inositol (MIHN) were hydrolyzed by enzymes present in plasma and tissues of man, rat and dog. Human plasma and rat tissues hydrolyzed niceritrol at a higher rate than did MIHN.
