Strong reactivity with normal chicken serum has been determined by immunoelectrophoresis (IEP). This antiserum has not been assayed for interspecies cross reactivity.
Application
Anti-Chicken Serum antibody produced in rabbit has been used in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunoelectrophoresis.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Chicken serum may be suitable as medium supplement like fetal calf serum. It favors growth of parasite cultures providing all nutritional requirements It is employed for in vitro cultivation of L. infantum promastigotes.
Physical form
Rabbit Anti-Chicken Serum is provided as a liquid containing 0.1% sodium azide as preservative.
Storage and Stability
For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, the solution may be frozen in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Storage in "frost-free" freezers not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use.
