General description

1,2-dimyristoyl-d54-sn-glycero-3-phosphate (sodium salt) (14:0 PA-d54) is a deuterated phosphatidic acid in which 54 protons of dimyristoyl are replaced by deuterium isotope. Phosphatidic acid (PA) is a membrane phospholipid.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidic acid (PA) serves as an intermediate for the production of storage and membrane lipids. It is involved in the regulation of glycerolipid metabolism. PA is also involved in membrane biogenesis. It is also implicated in several cellular processes such as, membrane trafficking, signal transduction, cytoskeletal rearrangement and secretion.
