General description

NLR family, pyrin domain containing 6 (NLRP6) maybe part of the inflammasome. It belongs to the Nod-like receptor family and is expressed in intestinal epithelial cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

NLR family, pyrin domain containing 6 (NLRP6) has a role in innate immunity. It also maintains intestinal homeostasis by modulating autophagy and mucus secretion. Loss of NLRP6 has been shown to hinder the production of interleukin-18 (IL-18) and enhance susceptibility to epithelial-induced injury in rats.

Physical form

Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.

The crosstalk between the host's inflammasome system and the invading virulent/less-virulent viruses determines the outcome of the ensuing inflammatory response. An appropriate activation of inflammasomes triggers antiviral inflammatory responses that clear the virus and heal the inflamed tissue. However, an
NLRP6 function in inflammatory monocytes reduces susceptibility to chemically induced intestinal injury.
