Gene Information

human ... DGKI(9162)

General description

DGKI (Diacylglycerol kinase iota) is a small, integral membrane protein belonging to the type IV diacylglycerol kinase subfamily. It is mapped on chromosome 7q32.3-q33. The members of the DGK family consist of a catalytic domain and at least two cysteine-rich regions. In type IV family members, it has four ankyrin repeats and a carboxy terminal PDZ binding domain.
DGKI a member of the type IV diacylglycerol kinase subfamily. Diacylglycerol kinases regulate the intracellular concentration of diacylglycerol through its phosphorylation, producing phosphatidic acid. The specific role of the enzyme encoded by this gene is undetermined, however, it may play a crucial role in the production of phosphatidic acid in the retina or in recessive forms of retinal degeneration.

Immunogen

DGKI (895-930)
This antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide selected from the C-terminal region of human DGKI.

Application

Anti-DGKI (C-term) antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for immunohistochemistry (1:50-1:100), indirect ELISA (1:1000) and western blot (1:100-1:500).

Biochem/physiol Actions

DGKI (Diacylglycerol kinase iota) is mainly involved in the maintenance of intracellular concentration of diacylglycerol by phosphorylating other lipids in addition to DAG. DGKI has been predicted to be a potential gene for tumor suppression in colorectal cancers and mutation in DGKI has been linked to the melanoma.

Physical form

Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide.

The mammalian diacylglycerol kinases (DGK) are a group of enzymes having important roles in regulating many biological processes. Both the product and the substrate of these enzymes, i.e. diacylglycerol and phosphatidic acid, are important lipid signalling molecules. Each DGK isoform
