Gene Information

human ... HOXB8(3218)

General description

Homeobox B8 (HOXB8) protein belongs to the homeobox (HOX) containing complex. HOXB8 gene is expressed in the spinal cord during embryonic development. The HOXB8 gene is located on the human chromosome at 17q21.32.

Specificity

Anti-HOXB8 (C-terminal) recognizes human HOXB8 (also known as Hox-2D, Hox-2).

Application

Anti-HOXB8 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Overexpression of the homeobox B8 (HOXB8) gene is identified as a cause for leukemia. The encoded protein prevents myeloid differentiation by a mechanism that requires interaction with pre‐B‐cell leukemia homeobox (Pbx) protein.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Store at –20 °C. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots at –20 °C. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.

Repertoires of grooming behaviors critical to survival are exhibited by most animal species, including humans. Genes that influence this complex behavior are unknown. We report that mice with disruptions of Hoxb8 show, with 100% penetrance, excessive grooming leading to hair

HoxB8 was the first homeobox gene identified as a cause of leukemia. In murine WEHI3B acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells, proviral integration leads to the expression of both HoxB8 and Interleukin (IL-3). Enforced expression of HoxB8 blocks differentiation of factor-dependent

Although Hox gene expression has been linked to motoneuron identity, a role of these genes in development of the spinal sensory system remained undocumented. Hoxb genes are expressed at high levels in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord. Hoxb8

Unlike the case with some other solid tumors, whole genome array screening has not revealed prognostic genetic aberrations in primary gastric cancer. Comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) using bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) arrays for 56 primary gastric cancers resulted in identification
