General description

[Val5]-Angiotensin II ([Val5]-ANG II) is an ANG II analog containing valine as the fifth amino acid in place of isoleucine in an ANG II octapeptide.

Application

[Val5]-Angiotensin II acetate salt hydrate has been used to induce:
  • renal damage in mice to study the role of human liver-type fatty acid-binding protein (hL-FABP)
  • vascular inflammation in mice to study the interaction of cytosolic copper chaperone antioxidant-1 (Atox1) with tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-receptor-associated factor 4 (TRAF4)
  • abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in mice to study the role of vascular ATPase copper transporting α (ATP7α)

Biochem/physiol Actions

[Val5]-Angiotensin II acts as an agonist for the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1 receptor).

Previous studies have demonstrated that augmentation of intrarenal angiotensin II (ANG II) levels during ANG II induced hypertension involves both endogenous formation and accumulation of circulating ANG II. The present work extends these findings and determines whether accumulation of infused
