General description

1,2,4-Butanetriol (BT) is an important precursor utilized for the synthesis of the energetic material butanetriol trinitrate and several other chemicals. BT is also useful in the manufacture of plasticizers, polymers, cationic lipids, and pharmaceutical compounds.

Application

1,2,4-Butanetriol may be used as an internal standard for the determination of glycerol, and mono-, di-, and triglycerides in vegetable oil methyl esters by capillary gas chromatography and gas chromatography coupled with flame ionization detector (GC-FID).

The SAGA (Spt-Ada-Gcn5 acetyltransferase) complex performs multiple functions in transcription activation including deubiquitinating histone H2B, which is mediated by a subcomplex called the deubiquitinating module (DUBm). The yeast DUBm comprises a catalytic subunit, Ubp8, and three additional subunits, Sgf11, Sus1
