form

grease

solubility

toluene: soluble

General description

Apiezon®M constitutes the stationary phase for separation of methyl esters of fattyacids from n-pentanoic to octadecanoic acids using chromatography. It is a vaccum grease.

Application

Apiezon®M was used in a study to characterize the photodamage to Escherichia coli in optical tweezers (traps). It was used to coat collecting substrate made up of polypropylene film in Rotating Drum Impactor for collection of size-segregated ambient aerosol samples.

Optical tweezers (infrared laser-based optical traps) have emerged as a powerful tool in molecular and cell biology. However, their usefulness has been limited, particularly in vivo, by the potential for damage to specimens resulting from the trapping laser. Relatively little
