Application

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. Biochem/physiol Actions

Fas apoptotic inhibitory molecule 3 (FAIM3) is referred to as FCMR and TOSO. It is a functional IgM receptor that is capable of activating signaling molecules and is regulated by IL-2. The gene is expressed on human CD19+ B cells, CD4+/CD8+ T cells and CD56+/CD3- NK cells. Its overexpression is seen in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and it may play a role in immune surveillance and contribute to B cell activation. Over-expression of this gene may promote chromosomal abnormalities.
