Application

Hydrophilic modifying reagent. Derivatives with amino compounds can be regenerated with hydrazine.
Picrylsulfonic acid (2,4,6-Trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid solution, TNBS) may be used in studies on the mechanisms of intracellular pH regulation. TNBS is used to induce inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)/colonic inflammation for studies on its mechanism and treatment.

Caution

decomposes when stored at temperatures ≥0°C with precipitate formation (picric acid)
