Application

Lithium chloride (LiCl) is a source of nucleophilic chloride anion and it can convert alcohols to alkyl chlorides. It catalyzes the ortholithiations of a range of arenes mediated by lithium diisopropylamide (LDA). LiCl solution is also used in the preparation of organozinc halides.
