General description

Serum albumin, the most abundant protein (30–50 mg/mL) in the plasma, is a multifunctional, non-glycosylated, negatively charged protein produced in the liver. It binds to a wide variety of lipophilic compounds such as metal ions, pharmaceuticals and metabolites. Albumin regulates osmotic pressure in the blood and has a role in the transport of fatty acids.

Immunogen

Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA)

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

For continuous use, store at 2-8°C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.

Other Notes

In order to obtain the best results using various techniques and preparations, we recommend determining the optimal working dilutions by titration.

The plasma membrane is widely regarded as the hub of the numerous signal transduction activities. Yet, the fundamental biophysical mechanisms that spatiotemporally compartmentalize different classes of membrane proteins remain unclear. Using multimodal live-cell imaging, here we first show that several
