General description

2-Methoxyethanol is widely used solvent in various electrochemical studies and industrial processes. It exhibits “quasi-aprotic properties. Its solvent characteristics are a mixture of that of protic and aprotic solvents. Dissolution of alkali metal salts in 2-methoxyethanol and their conductance, viscosity and laser-Raman spectra have been evaluated.

Application

  • Enzymatic synthesis of a skin active ingredient - glochiDoneby 3-ketosteroid dehydrogenase from Sterolibacterium denitrificans: This study showcases the utility of 2-Methoxyethanol in enzymatic processes critical for the development of dermatological agents, providing a bridge between organic chemistry and bioapplications in material science (Wojtkiewicz et al., 2024).

  • Toxicity of organic solvents and surfactants to the sea urchin embryos: Demonstrates the environmental impact assessments of 2-Methoxyethanol, aligning with environmental safety protocols critical for lab technicians and researchers in eco-toxicology (Semenova et al., 2024).

  • Room-Temperature Processed Annealing-Free Printable Carbon-Based Mesoscopic Perovskite Solar Cells with 17.34% Efficiency: Highlights the use of 2-Methoxyethanol in the production of high-efficiency solar cells, relevant for material scientists and researchers in energy-related applications (Zhu et al., 2024).

  • Ce-doped MgO films on AZ31 alloy substrate for biomedical applications: Explores the preparation and characterization of materials using 2-Methoxyethanol, essential for researchers focusing on advanced biomedical applications and material science (Hattab et al., 2024).

  • Solution-Processed Sb(2)S(3)-Based Heterojunction for Self-Powered Broad Band Weak Light Detection: Discusses the role of 2-Methoxyethanol in developing photodetectors, important for researchers in photonic and semiconductor research sectors (Vishwanathan Vidyanagar et al., 2024).
