Application

Octanal 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone is used as an analytical standard to test its efficacy against pneumococcal strains including penicillin (PEN)-resistant S. pneumoniae (PRSP), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other streptococci. Its minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) was determined and its efficacy against pneumococcal infections was also evaluated in local infection and mouse sepsis models.
