General description

2-18:1 Lyso PE is a lyso phosphatidylethanolamine with oleic acid substitution at sn-2 position. LPE is synthesized from phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) through the action of phospholipase A.

Application

2-18:1 Lyso PE is suitable for use as standard, as sn-2 isomers of lyso PE for hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography-paired with ion mobility-mass spectrometry (HILIC-IM-MS), and high performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Lyso phosphatidylethanolamine (Lyso PE) is a lipid present naturally in plants and it retards senescence in leaves, postharvest fruits and flowers. LPE has antifungal and antibacterial activity. LPE functions to induce neuronal differentiation, increases intracellular calcium, stimulates chemotactic migration and cellular invasion in cancer cells.
