Gene Information

General description

Transmembrane protein 150C (UniProt: Q8C8S3; also known as Tentonin, TTN3) is encoded by the Tmem150c gene (Gene ID: 231503) in murine species. TTN3 is a multi-pass membrane protein of the DRAM/TMEM150 family. Two isoforms of TTN3 have been described that are produced by alternative splicing. It belongs to a new class of mechanotransduction channel that is expressed in muscle spindle afferents and contribute to proprioception (touch sensation). It is activated by mechanical stimuli with distinctly slow inactivation kinetics. Mice with deficiency in TTN3 display loss of coordinated movements and abnormal gait. It is reported to mediate slow adapting currents in DRG neurons.

Specificity

This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects Transmembrane protein 150C in mouse and rat cells. it targets an epitope within 38 amino acids from the C-terminal region.

Immunogen

A linear peptide corresponding to 38 amino acids from the C-terminal region of murine Transmembrane protein 150C.
Epitope: C-terminus

Application

Anti-Tentonin 3/TMEM150c, Cat. No. ABN2266, is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody that targets Transmembrane protein 150C and has been tested in , Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry, and Western Blotting.

Julia Ojeda-Alonso et al.
The Journal of general physiology, 154(12) (2022-10-19)
The membrane protein TMEM150C has been proposed to form a mechanosensitive ion channel that is required for normal proprioceptor function. Here, we examined whether expression of TMEM150C in neuroblastoma cells lacking Piezo1 is associated with the appearance of mechanosensitive currents.

Cell reports, 43(6), 114334-114334 (2024-06-08)
Mechanically activating (MA) channels transduce numerous physiological functions. Tentonin 3/TMEM150C (TTN3) confers MA currents with slow inactivation kinetics in somato- and barosensory neurons. However, questions were raised about its role as a Piezo1 regulator and its potential as a channel
