It is a citric acid/sodium hydroxide certified buffer solution, gravimetrically prepared using high-quality reagents and water at a registered calibration laboratory. Its pH value of 6.00 at 25°C is determined using the 5-point calibration method with a combined glass electrode. The measurement is made following DIN 19268 using reference buffer solutions compliant to DIN 19266, NIST, IUPAC, Ph. Eur, and USP. The buffer′s pH value strongly depends on the temperature and therefore a constant temperature must be maintained during its use.
It is used as a buffer reference standard to calibrate pH measuring instruments or pH electrodes and as a control to measure the pH of other solutions.
