Gene Information

human ... CALM1(801)

General description

Anti-Calmodulin Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Calmodulin protein.
Calmodulin (CaM), a highly conserved Ca2+-binding protein, is mapped to human chromosome 14q32. Calmodulin is a small protein abundantly present in the brain and coded by three genes (CALM1-3).

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Calmodulin.

Immunogen Range: 46-95

Application

Anti-Calmodulin antibody has been used in western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Calmodulin (CaM) possesses Ca2+-dependent modulatory roles. It participates in cell proliferation and muscle activity. Calmodulin plays a major role in catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) and in long QT syndrome (LQTS). This protein modulates the transcriptional processes required for proper heart function.
